There are only a few days left for the mission to decide the future of the earth

The date of 26 September 2022 is going to be historic. The Dart mission, which was launched last year, will try to change its direction by colliding with an asteroid. If this mission is successful then it will be easy to protect the earth from asteroid attacks in future Because all the fears of bringing ‘catastrophe’ on Earth are related to an asteroid attack. This mission was sent together by NASA and SpaceX.
The purpose of this mission is only that if the Dart mission will collide with the moon moving with the asteroid. That moon will again collide with the asteroid. Due to which the direction of both will change. If the direction changes, it will be a great achievement. If not, then the mission will be changed again. A new mission can also be sent. The spacecraft of the Dart mission will hit the asteroid at a speed of about 24 thousand kilometers per hour. Just before this collision, the spacecraft will also study the atmosphere, soil, stone and structure of the asteroid Didymos.

This mission means a lot in human history. If successful, the earth will be saved from celestial attack.
What will happen during this mission?
DART mission means Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART). The technique using which this work will be done is being called Kinetic Impactor Technique. With this technique, the direction will be changed by colliding the spacecraft with the asteroid coming towards the earth. The asteroid that NASA will attack with DART is named Didymos.
Didymos asteroid is 2600 feet in diameter. There is also a moon circling around it. Its name is Dimorphos. DART will compete with Dimorphos. The diameter of the moon is 525 feet. NASA will target this small moon-like stone. Then it will collide with its asteroid. After this, the change in speed and direction of both will be studied.
Speed of the DART spacecraft?
NASA’s Planetary Defense Officer Lindley Johnson said that we will know the potential of new technology from this collision. It will also be known that only this will work or some new way should be found to save the earth from such asteroids. Spacecraft cannot collide with Dimorphos at high speed. The danger from this is that the moon can leave its asteroid and go in some other direction in space. This will fail the mission. If there is a slight change in the speed of the moon and then Didymos due to the collision, then it means that the mission is successful. Even a single degree angle change in space can have a big impact. It can prevent the collision of asteroids with Earth.

Second spacecraft to monitor DART
The Light Italian CubeSat for Imaging Asteroids (LICIACube) is also accompanying all the activities of the DART spacecraft. During the collision, this vehicle will pass close to the asteroid so that it can take photos of the collision. send his photo to earth. NASA has recorded more than 8000 near-Earth objects around the Earth.
Some of the near-Earth objects recorded by NASA are over 460 feet in diameter. If a stone of this size falls on America, it can completely destroy any one state. If it falls into the sea, it can bring a big tsunami. However, NASA has assured that not one of the 8000 stones revolving around the Earth will hit the Earth for the next 100 years.
