Rail service will start from 2025, Railway Department gave information on advocate’s RTI

The work of Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project will be completed by December 31, 2024. Under the Chardham FLS action plan, the survey work of four other railway lines in Uttarakhand has been completed. Rail Vikas Nigam has given this information under RTI.
Kashipur resident RTI activist Nadeem Uddin had sought information from the Ministry of Railways regarding the new railway lines of Uttarakhand. In response to this, the people information officer of the Chief Project Manager of Rail Vikas Nigam provided the information on 16 August. It was informed that the construction work of 126 km long rail line project on Rishikesh-Karnprayag broad gauge is in progress.
Under FLS work on Char Dham Yatra Route (Gangotri-Yamunotri) 122 Km Doiwala-Uttarkashi-Barkot, (Kedarnath-Badrinath) Karnprayag-Saikot, Sonprayag, 91 Km Saikot-Joshimath, 86 Km Saikot to Pipalkoti 21 Km Final Location Survey The work has been completed. The Rishikesh-Karnprayag line is divided into nine packages. The completion date of this project is 31 December 2024.
It was informed in the information that out of the total length of 125.172 km of this railway line, work of 5.770 km has been completed. Out of 104 km length of main tunnels, 24 km has been completed while out of total length of 97.7 km of skip tunnels, 26 km has been completed.
One important bridge, one road bridge, one of the two over-bridges (ROBs), one underbridge, one of the four LHS, 15 of the 34 smaller bridges have been completed. Out of the 12 proposed stations on this route, the work of one new station has been completed.
Nadeem had also sought information related to Kashipur-Dhampur, Khatima-Sitarganj-Kicha, Tanakpur to Bageshwar rail line, but the Railway Board has not provided them, stating that it is related to the Government of India.
