Uttarakhand : Kedanath Highway obstructed due to debris near Bansbara, thousands of pilgrims stranded

Kedarnath National Highway was once again blocked near Bansbara (Kedarnath National Highway blocked). National Highway has been closed due to debris near Bansbara. Due to which long queues of vehicles have formed on both sides of the national highway. The local people as well as the commuters are facing problems due to the blockade of the national highway.

For the past few days, continuous rain in Kedar valley is going on. Due to which public life has become hectic. The incidents of landslides have increased in the hilly areas due to the rains. Kedarnath Highway has been blocked at many places due to increasing incidents of landslides. Even today, the Kedarnath National Highway is closed for several hours due to debris coming near Bansbara.

Since the construction of the all-weather road, there are danger zones at more than a dozen places of Kedarnath Highway. Where, when there is light rain, landslides start happening from the hill. There are many such places including Silli, Bansbara, Kund, Phata, Rampur on the highway. Where landslides occur when it rains. Permanent treatment is not being done by the NH department regarding the landslide occurring from the hill. Due to which the people of Kedar Ghati, along with the devotees coming from the country and abroad, remain very upset during the journey.

On Monday afternoon, the highway was blocked after a huge amount of debris came from the hill in Bansbara of Kedarnath Highway. After passing the time of two and a half hours, the machines of NH department reached the spot. After which the work of removing the debris started. During this, thousands of stranded pilgrims had to wait for hours for the highway to open. Apart from this, due to heavy rains, buttresses have collapsed at many places on Kedarnath Highway. Due to which people are facing problems in other places.

Let us tell you that the Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert in the mountainous areas of Kumaon and Garhwal. In view of the heavy rain, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in the state (YELLOW Alert in Uttarakhand). Along with this, it has been advised to stay away from sensitive areas on the banks of river drains and in mountainous areas. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain in some areas of the mountainous areas.

Along with this, there is also a possibility of thunder and lightning in many districts. Under this, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in the state regarding rain. Let us tell you that the weather pattern in Uttarakhand is severe. The period of intermittent rain continues. Due to which life has been disturbed.
