West Bengal : Not PM Modi, other BJP leaders are misusing central agencies

A statement by Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has stunned not only the opposition camp but also her party leaders. Mamata Banerjee said that she does not think that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is behind the alleged excesses of central agencies in Bengal. Mamata alleged that a section of BJP leaders was misusing the agencies to serve their own interests. Mamta also said that many of us do not know that CBI no longer reports to the PMO but to the Home Ministry. It is being speculated from the statement of Mamta, who has been critical of the Modi government since 2014, that she has targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah by giving a clean chit to PM Modi.
A resolution was passed in the West Bengal Assembly against the ‘excesses’ of the central investigative agencies. The motion got 189 votes in favor and 69 against. During this, Mamta’s statement surprised everyone. Mamta said, every day, threats are being made by BJP leaders to get the leaders of opposition parties arrested by CBI and ED. Should central agencies work in this way in the country? I don’t think Prime Minister Narendra Modi is behind this, but there are some BJP leaders who are misusing CBI and ED for their own interests.”
‘CBI is not bad’
Mamata further said that the CBI, which used to report to the Prime Minister’s Office, is now under the jurisdiction of the Union Home Ministry. However, earlier Mamta Banerjee has alleged that PM Modi is taking action against political opponents from CBI and ED.
Mamta said, ‘The main purpose of this resolution is not to condemn anyone but to be neutral instead of partial. I am not saying that CBI is bad, there are BSF, CISF, SSB, IB, RAW and many more. I am just requesting him to be impartial instead of being unilateral.
Had come on target for praising RSS
Earlier, Mamta Banerjee’s statement on RSS had also created panic. Mamta had said, ‘RSS is not such a bad organization. There are also many genuine and good people in the organization who do not support BJP. A day will come when they will break their silence.
First, questions are being raised about Mamta’s soft politics regarding RSS and now PM Modi. The opposition alleges that the way ED, CBI and other investigative agencies are taking Bengal ministers and TMC leaders in the clutches, PM Modi’s attitude has now softened.
‘Mamata trying to create rift in BJP’
On the other hand, BJP alleges that Mamata Banerjee is trying to create a rift between PM Modi and party leaders. Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari claimed that Chief Minister Banerjee was trying to create a rift in the BJP by praising the Prime Minister and accusing other party leaders.
Suvendu Adhikari said, “The Trinamool Congress is in complete disarray after the arrest of its leaders in corruption cases. They now want to defame an independent agency. The Prime Minister follows the policy of zero tolerance towards corruption. Trinamool Congress cannot escape its sins.
‘Silent understanding between Mamata and BJP’
The opposition is also attacking Mamata Banerjee’s remarks and is calling it silent understanding between TMC-BJP. Responding to Mamta’s statement, State Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that there is a silent understanding between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP. This is not a fight against an individual, but against an ideology. The Trinamool Congress has been the weakest link in the opposition camp since its inception.
At the same time, CPM state secretary Mohammad Salim said that creating panic in the opposition camp is an old trick of Banerjee. He said that this is not a new thing. During the Left Front government in the state, the Trinamool Congress had tried to adopt a similar tactic by calling the Kerala CPM better than the Bengal CPM. The remark also reflects the tacit understanding between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP.
