According to the farmer’s brother-in-law Arvind Waghmare, the incident is from Bankarphata village, where Kedar was working as a farmer for the last 8 years. Waghmare said, “He was feeling very sad that day, but the farmer wished the prime minister a long life and then committed suicide by jumping into a nearby pond. Later a suicide note was also recovered from him.”
Kedari, in his suicide note, wished ‘Happy Birthday to you, PM’ and then said that it was due to the state government’s failure to ensure minimum support price that he was forced to end his life as he was harassed by the borrowers. was harassed. He told how the state was not giving MSP to onion, tomato and other farmers devastated by the recent floods and pandemic damage.
Taking strong note, Shiv Sena spokespersons Kishore Tiwari and Dr. Manisha Kayande criticized the government for its failure to tackle the agrarian crisis in the state, which is in despair with suicides. Dr. Kayande said, “A farmer congratulates the PM and then commits suicide, but the PM is busy bringing ‘cheetahs’ to the country. This is the sad state of the country.” Tiwari said that the PM should immediately come to meet the Kedari family as the state government has failed to solve the problems of the farmers or directed Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to console the kin of the deceased farmers during her visit to Pune next week.
Kedari, 42, is survived by his wife Shanta and two college-going eldest children – 20-year-old son Shubham and 18-year-old daughter Shravani. Waghmare said his brother-in-law was a resident of Vadgaon-Anand village and the Alphata police station met the family and registered a case.
