After 22 years, notification issued for the election of Congress President, these leaders made preparations to enter the elections

All eyes are on the election for the post of Congress President. Notification for the elections has been issued on Thursday. With this, the process of selecting the person who will hold the highest office of the oldest party of the country has formally started. The work of issuing this notification has been done by the Central Election Authority headed by senior Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry.

Last date for withdrawal of nomination is October 8

According to the announced schedule for the election of Congress President, after the notification is issued, the process of filing nominations will now run from September 24 to 30. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 8. In case of more than one candidate, voting will be held on October 17 and the results of the election will be declared on October 19.

Ashok Gehlot and Shashi Tharoor

A day before the notification was issued, there was chaos on Wednesday. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and senior party leader Shashi Tharoor have given a clear indication of entering the election season. After this, the possibility has become strong that after 22 years, the head of the country’s oldest party will be elected through elections.

Gehlot said that he will accept the party’s decision, but before that he will make one last attempt to persuade Rahul Gandhi to become the president. On the other hand, Lok Sabha member Tharoor, who is already indicating to contest the elections, reached the Congress headquarters on Wednesday to meet the party’s Central Election Authority chief Madhusudan Mistry and inquired about the process of nomination. The possibility of entering the electoral fray also cannot be ruled out.
