Delhi’s LG sues 5 AAP leaders for defamation, demands ₹ 2 crore damages

Delhi LG Vinay Saxena on Thursday filed a defamation case against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and five of its leaders over their alleged allegations. Saxena on Thursday urged the Delhi High Court to restrain AAP and several of its leaders from leveling “false” allegations against him and his family. AAP leaders have claimed that Saxena was involved in a scam of Rs 1,400 crore during his tenure as chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).

Seeking damages of Rs 2 crore, the Delhi LG told the court that AAP had made these allegations to divert public attention from the action being taken by law enforcement agencies with a planned purpose.

Further, Saxena sought directions to remove the alleged false and derogatory posts or tweets or videos circulated and issued on social media by AAP and its leaders Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Durgesh Pathak, Sanjay Singh and Jasmin Shah. Is. He has also demanded damages and compensation of Rs 2 crore along with interest from the Aam Aadmi Party and its five leaders.

Saxena’s counsel also requested the High Court to direct Twitter and YouTube (Google Inc.) to remove or delete tweets, re-tweets, posts, videos, captions, taglines with photographs of the plaintiff and his family members.
