PM Modi rained on ‘Urban Naxalites’, said- ‘Sardar Sarovar Dam work stopped for many years, they are still active’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday alleged that politically-backed “urban naxals and anti-development elements” had stalled the construction of the Sardar Sarovar dam on the Narmada river in Gujarat for several years, claiming it would harm the environment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said this after inaugurating the two-day national conference of environment ministers of the states through video conference on Friday i.e. today at Ekta Nagar in Narmada district of Gujarat. PM Modi said, ‘The politically backed urban naxalites and anti-development elements kept the construction of Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada river in Gujarat on hold for many years, claiming that it would harm the environment. Due to this delay huge amount of money was lost. Now that the dam is ready, you can see how hollow their claims were.
The Prime Minister said, “These urban Naxalites are still active. I request you not to stop the projects that make business easy or make life easier in the name of environment. We should have a balanced approach to deal with the conspiracy of such people.”
‘India is moving ahead with new thinking, new approach’
PM Modi said on this occasion, ‘Today’s new India is moving ahead with new thinking, new approach. Today, where India is a rapidly developing economy, it is also continuously strengthening its ecology. Our forest cover has increased and the area of wetland is also increasing rapidly.
PM Modi said, ‘It is because of our track record of fulfilling our commitments that the world is joining India today. Gir lions, tigers, elephants, one-horned rhinos and leopards have increased in numbers over the years. A new enthusiasm has returned with the homecoming of Cheetah in Madhya Pradesh a few days ago.
‘We have shown the world that’
The Prime Minister said, ‘We have shown the world that hardly anyone can touch our speed and our scale in terms of renewable energy. India is leading the world today to deal with big challenges.
PM Modi said, ‘We are meeting at a time when India is setting new goals for the next 25 years. I am sure that your efforts will also help in protecting the environment and India’s development will also happen at the same speed.
‘Promote circular economy as much as possible’
The Prime Minister said, ‘I would urge all the environment ministers of the country to promote circular economy as much as possible in the states. This will also give strength to our campaign of solid waste management and freedom from single use plastic.
During this, PM Modi said on the problem of increasing water in the cities, ‘Nowadays we see that in the states where there was abundance of water, the ground water used to remain above, today there is a shortage of water. This challenge is not only of the water related department, but the environment department will also have to consider it as an equally big challenge.
