Military Arrest in Chandigarh University VIDEO Case; was posted in Arunachal Pradesh; Fourth arrest in case, student suspected of blackmailing
An Army jawan has been arrested by the Punjab Police in connection with the viral video of girl students of Chandigarh University (CU) in Mohali taking a bath. The accused has been identified as Sanjeev Singh. This is the fourth arrest in this case. It is suspected that this army jawan was blackmailing a student living in the CU hostel and making videos of other girls taking a bath.
Punjab Police’s SIT formed for the investigation of CU video case arrested Army’s wanted jawan Sanjeev Singh from Arunachal Pradesh. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said that during the forensic and digital evidence found during the investigation of this case, the name of Army jawan Sanjeev Singh came up. Sanjeev Singh’s posting was in Arunachal Pradesh, so a team of police from Mohali was sent there.
Punjab Police team caught Sanjeev Singh with the help of Arunachal Pradesh Police, Assam Police and Army officials. He was arrested from Sela Pass in Arunachal Pradesh. After this, he was produced before the CJM Court in Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh and was taken on transit remand for 2 days. Mohali Police team is bringing the accused to Mohali for questioning.

The Punjab Police SIT set up to investigate the VIDEO case will interrogate accused Sanjeev Singh and try to find out how he came in contact with the accused student studying in Chandigarh University. For what reason and since when was he blackmailing the girl student? What did he do with the girls bathing videos?
The police will also trace the relationship of Sanjeev Singh with the accused student and his friends Sunny Mehta and Rankaj Verma. To whom did the accused jawan forward the videos of the girls? Is it connected to any network? etc. will also be explored.
After being caught, the student accused of making videos of girls taking a bath in Chandigarh University, during the interrogation of the warden and other students, showed the photo of Rankaj Verma in her mobile and said that this youth was forcing her to make the video by blackmailing her. However, it was later found that the WhatsApp number on which the girl student used to send videos of girls, had a picture of Rankaj Verma on its display picture (DP) but that number was being used by someone else.
Three accused already on remand
Sanjeev Singh is the fourth person to be arrested in the Chandigarh University VIDEO case. Earlier, the Punjab Police has arrested the accused student who made the video, besides her boyfriend Sunny Mehta and her friend Rankaj Verma. Sunny Mehta is a resident of Rohru town of Shimla district in Himachal Pradesh while Rankaj Verma is a resident of Shimla. The accused student and the other two youths are already in police remand.
Experts investigating electronic devices
In this case, forensic experts of Punjab Police are examining the mobile phones, laptops and other electronic devices of the accused student and her two friends. Punjab Police has seized all these devices and sent them to the forensic lab. Their report is yet to come.
Punjab Police has produced the girl accused of making videos of girls in Chandigarh University hostel and has taken them on remand for 7 days. According to sources, in this case, several calls were made from the mobile of the accused student and her two friends in Delhi, Gujarat and Mumbai.
All women officers in SIT
On September 18, the case of a girl student making a video of other girls taking a bath in the hostel of Chandigarh University came to the fore. After that the Punjab Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case. There are three women officers in the SIT. The SIT is headed by Ludhiana SP (Counter Intelligence) Rupinder Kaur Bhatti. Apart from them, it includes DSP Kharar-1 Rupinder Kaur and DSP AGTF Deepika Singh. In this case, a case was registered on September 18 at Kharar police station under different sections of IPC and IT Act.
