Rajasthan : High voltage drama went on till midnight, MLAs pro-Gehlot put two conditions

The meeting of the Congress Legislature Party was to be held at the Chief Minister’s residence at 7 pm. But even before the meeting, MLAs who were considered loyal to Gehlot started gathering at the bungalow of Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal. From here he reached the residence of Speaker of the Assembly Dr. Joshi at around 8.30 pm and stayed there till midnight.
In fact, these MLAs have submitted their resignation to the Speaker of the Assembly, CP Joshi. Chief whip in the state assembly Mahesh Joshi said late on Sunday night that “we have resigned and the Speaker will now decide what to do next. The MLAs loyal to Gehlot have two conditions. First, the chief minister’s successor should be someone who played a key role in saving the government during the political crisis in 2020, not someone who was involved in an attempt to topple it.
Secondly, he does not want a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party until the election of the Congress President’s post is held. Which is on 19th October. Disaster Management and Relief Minister Govind Ram Meghwal told media persons, “We have just submitted our resignations.” When asked how many MLAs had resigned, he said, “Around 100 MLAs have resigned.” Coming out of Joshi’s residence, Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara said, “Everything is fine.” All this development took place in the capital Jaipur amid the prospects of choosing Gehlot’s successor in the meeting of the Congress Legislature Party. This situation is indicating a deepening of the struggle for power between the Chief Minister and Sachin Pilot. Gehlot will contest for the post of Congress President, so there is talk of choosing his successor.
Earlier, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had gone to the hotel where Delhi observers Mallikarjun Kharge and Ajay Maken were staying. There was a long meeting between these leaders. Former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot also reached the Chief Minister’s residence, some more MLAs also came to participate in the proposed meeting of the legislature party, but this meeting did not take place in the end.
Meanwhile, observers Mallikarjun Kharge and Ajay Maken have been ordered by Sonia Gandhi to meet the MLAs one by one. Hopefully this meeting can happen today. The Congress has 107 MLAs in the 200-member state assembly. The party also has the support of independent MLAs.
Amid the latest political developments in Rajasthan, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Rajendra Rathod said on Sunday night that the current political situation in the state is pointing towards President’s rule. Union Minister Gajendra Singh tweeted, “Government of enclosure .. once again ready to go to enclosure.” Which was called ‘Badabandi’ in the local language.
