Uttarakhand : Government in action after Ankita Bhandari case, strict instructions regarding illegal hotels and resorts, meeting with Chief Secretary and Director General of Police

Ankita Bhandari, a female receptionist of Vantara Resort in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, has died. After the death of Ankita, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in Uttarakhand has given strict guidelines regarding law and order, hotels and resorts. During the meeting on Sunday, CM Dhami said, “The image of the state has been tarnished by some recent incidents.” Dhami held this meeting regarding law and order in the state amid public outrage over the murder of 19-year-old Ankita Bhandari, who worked in a resort in Pauri. In the meeting, the Chief Minister has instructed the District Magistrates to take all the incidents related to law and order with utmost seriousness.

He has also directed for speedy action by identifying the encroachment in forest and other areas in the state for hotels, resorts and religious works. Along with the verification of madrasas of the state, the Chief Minister has also asked to take strict action in cases of demographic change. He said that all officers should work with caution and responsibility to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
While tweeting this information, he said, “Reviewing the law and order situation in the state in the secretariat, directed the officers to ensure better law and order in the state and keep a close watch on the anti-social elements who are disturbing the peaceful environment and take strict action against the criminals.” ”
He further wrote, “In the review meeting, the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, all the commissioners and district magistrates were instructed to work responsibly in maintaining law and order and peace in the state.”
