Uttarakhand : CM Dhami’s instructions to Home Department officials – Cyber security mechanism should be strengthened

While reviewing the Home Department in the Secretariat, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the officers to strengthen the cyber security system. Special efforts are needed to further strengthen the intelligence. The Chief Minister said that public problems and public grievances should be resolved promptly. Teamwork should be done to make the policing system stronger. It should be ensured that the tasks which can be solved at the police station and district level, do not unnecessarily come to the police headquarters and the government level. He said that it is necessary for the police to behave well with the general public, but the anti-social activities should be closely monitored and strict action should also be taken against the concerned.

The Chief Minister said that maximum use of modern technology should be made for smart policing system in the state. Special attention should be paid to how drones can be used better in crowd management, traffic management and disaster management. Best practices of other states should also be seen for modernization of police. To stop begging, a committee should be formed under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, in which police, education, social welfare and other related departments should be included. Action plan should be prepared to stop begging by holding coordination meeting of these departments. To further strengthen the police system, training should be given to the policemen from time to time. The Chief Minister said that special attention should be paid to traffic management. SP traffic should be made nodal for all smooth arrangements of traffic.

It was informed in the meeting that the crime rate in Uttarakhand is the lowest in the country except in the North East states. Uttarakhand ranks 6th in the country and second among Himalayan states in the Crime and Criminal Trekking Network System. Full arrangement of CCTV cameras has been made in all the police stations. Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary Smt. Radha Raturi, DGP Ashok Kumar, Special Principal Secretary Abhinav Kumar, Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagoli, ADG Dr. PVK Prasad, Amit Kumar Sinha, V. Murugesan, other senior police officers were present.
