Weather disturbances may occur in Dussehra festival, heavy rain alert in next 72 hours in many states

Dussehra celebrations are likely to be disrupted due to heavy rains in West Bengal. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate to heavy rains in entire South Bengal in the next 72 hours. IMD has also issued heavy rain forecast in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Heavy rain may start in Central and Northeast India from Tuesday. According to the IMD forecast, “In view of a synoptic weather system (rain bringing weather system) forming over the Bay of Bengal, rains will continue over Odisha, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal till October 4. Will the Dussehra festival see rain in Bengal?
Rains lashed several parts of southern West Bengal, including Kolkata, on Sunday, nullifying the Saptami festival, which returned to its grandeur after a gap of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Met Office has predicted moderate rains over most parts of South Bengal, one or two places in Purba and Paschim Medinipur, South and North 24 Parganas and Birbhum districts during this period. An IMD spokesperson said, ‘A cyclonic circulation is persisting over northeast Bay of Bengal and extending up to 5.8 km above sea level. This weather system will remain active for the next three days, due to which there is a possibility of intermittent rain all over South Bengal.

IMD alert in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand also
The IMD in its latest weather bulletin said, “Heavy rains are likely to start over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh for the next 2-3 days from October 06. A cyclonic circulation extending up to mid-troposphere level remains over West-central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast. Another cyclonic circulation is forming over Northeast Bay of Bengal and its neighboring areas, extending up to the middle troposphere level. From Monday, October 3, both the above mentioned weather systems are very likely to merge. Due to this there will be heavy rain. By Tuesday, there is a possibility of heavy rain in the northeastern areas as well. Moderate to heavy rains will occur over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during October 3 and 4, 2022.

Heavy rain forecast in Maharashtra and Odisha
Apart from this, IMD has forecast normal or above rainfall in most parts of Maharashtra in October. Meanwhile, the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain accompanied by lightning in several districts of Odisha for the next five days. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain and lightning in some parts of the state from October 3 to October 7. Heavy rain warning has been issued in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul and Dhenkanal.
