Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh gets bail, but still will not leave jail

Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has been granted bail by the Bombay High Court. Anil Deshmukh was in jail for several months in a money laundering case. He was arrested by the ED. He has been granted bail after furnishing a surety of Rs 1 lakh. However, even after bail, Anil Deshmukh will not be able to come out of jail. The reason for this is that the CBI has also registered a case against him and he has not got bail in that case. In such a situation, he will still remain in jail. But in this case, after bail, his hopes of coming out of jail have increased. ED took action in the extortion case against Anil Deshmukh.
The ED had arrested Anil Deshmukh on November 2 last year on charges of money laundering. The 73-year-old NCP leader has been ordered by the Bombay High Court bench of Justice NJ Jamadar to furnish a surety of Rs 1 lakh. The CBI first registered a case against Anil Deshmukh in April 2021. Based on that, the ED had filed a fresh FIR. Then he was arrested. Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh had accused Anil Deshmukh of getting the city bar owners to extort money through policemen. The name of sacked officer Sachin Wajhe also came up in this.
Investigation is being done against Sachin Wajhe by the NIA for keeping explosives outside Antilia. Mansukh Hiren, who possessed this explosive, had died in a suspicious condition. Sachin Wajhe is believed to be the mastermind of the entire case. Parambir Singh had written a letter to the then CM Uddhav Thackeray alleging that Anil Deshmukh had given a target of recovery of Rs 100 crore every month through police officers. After this, the ED, after its investigation, claimed that Sachin Vajhe had called a meeting of the bar owners. After this, during December 2020 to February 2021, he had recovered Rs 4.70 crore from the owners a few times. The agency said that the amount recovered was transferred to Anil Deshmukh in two installments through his personal assistant Kundan Shinde.
