Heavy rain alert in Uttarakhand for next three days, warning of landslides in mountainous areas

The process of withdrawal of monsoon has started in Uttarakhand, but before leaving completely, the monsoon can show a strong attitude. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the state from October 6 to 8. There is a red alert for very heavy rain on October 7. During this time, there has been a warning of flooding of rivers and streams and landslides in mountainous areas. Along with this, it has been advised not to do mountaineering for a few days.

Moderate to strong showers may occur

After a few days, the weather in the state has started changing again. From the field to the mountain, the clouds have started blinking with the sun. According to Bikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Center, there may be partly cloudy sky in most areas of the state on Wednesday. Moderate to heavy showers are possible with isolated thunderstorms and strong winds.

Landslide warning in mountainous areas

After this, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in most areas of the state from October 6 to 8. Very heavy rainfall can occur especially in Kumaon. During this time, there is a possibility of flood situation in the rivers and streams, waterlogging in the plains. In mountainous areas, landslides can occur with rock slipping. Avalanches can also occur in snow-covered areas. In such a situation, it has been advised not to go mountaineering.

One week time for monsoon to return from Uttarakhand

Monsoon has departed from many states of the country. In Uttarakhand also, the withdrawal line of Southwest Monsoon has moved forward from Uttarkashi. With this, the farewell of monsoon has started from other cities including Najibabad, Agra in Uttar Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Center, it may take a week for the complete departure of monsoon from Uttarakhand. Monsoon is expected to return by October 10.
