Uttarakhand : Financial crimes will be curbed, Additional Chief Secretary instructed for joint training of police officers and commercial banks

Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi instructed to prepare a proposal after examining the cases of counterfeit notes to be registered through e-FIR. For prevention of financial crimes, he directed to organize a common training program of Uttarakhand Police officers and commercial banks. ACS Radha Raturi has requested the banks to extend their services in the remote hilly areas of Uttarakhand. He said that banks can play an important role in preventing migration from the hilly areas of the state and in fulfilling the financial facilities of the pilgrims on the Chardham Yatra route. Along with this, banks have the most important contribution in increasing the financial literacy in the state.

In the meeting of the 17th State Level Security Committee of Banks organized by Reserve Bank of India for Uttarakhand state on Wednesday, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi said that the police department will provide the RBI and the security personnel of the banks for training and assistance in fire fighting, security etc. Will be done. He also directed the banks to make arrangements for complete CCTV cameras in their premises. Regular fire audit of currency chests in banks should be ensured. ACS Raturi said that security gadgets like burglary alarm with auto dialer, fire alarm, biometric access and time lock should also be ensured along with CCTV cameras of all bank branches and ATMs. He directed the banks to run a public awareness campaign to make the general public aware of counterfeit notes.

In the meeting, the bank officials raised the issue of increasing the dedicated security force for security in currency chests, RBI premises and during the movement of funds. He said that formation of a dedicated security task force is essential for efficient currency management in the state. It is worth mentioning that at present the responsibility of security of 17 currency chests in the state is being fulfilled by the state police and 22 currency chests by security guards appointed by the banks.

Senior officials of various banks including Additional Secretary Home Riddhim Agarwal, RBI Security Advisor Prabhat Ranjan, RBI Dr. Ishan Shukla, CGM SBI Delhi Circle Kalpesh Awasia, Regional Director RBI Dehradun Lalita Vishwanathan were present in the meeting.
