Supreme Court stays on Pattabhishek of Avimukteshwaranand as Shankaracharya of Jyotishpeeth

स्वामी अविमुक्तेश्वरानंद बने ज्योतिष पीठ के शंकराचार्य

The Supreme Court has banned Pattabhishek of Swami Avimukteshwaranand as Shankaracharya of Jyotishpeeth in Uttarakhand. A division bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice BV Nagarathna issued the stay order. Earlier Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta informed the court that Shankaracharya of Govardhan Math in Puri Nischalananda Saraswati has filed an affidavit stating that Pattabhishek was not recommended as Shankaracharya of Jyotishpeeth of Avimukteshwarananda Is.

Acceptance of demand for ban
On this the bench accepted the demand of stay. A petition was filed on behalf of Swami Vasudevananda Saraswati before the Supreme Court that Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati has wrongly claimed that he has been appointed as the Shankaracharya of Jyotishpeeth after the death of Swami Swaroopananda Saraswati.

These allegations have been made in the application
It has also been said in the application that such deliberate attempts are being made to make the case already going on in the Supreme Court null and void and a person who is not eligible becomes a Shankaracharya in an unreasonable manner. Such attempts need to be stopped by an interim order.

This argument given in the petition
The petitioner also demanded that Avimukteshwaranand should also be restrained from using the designation and address of Shankaracharya. They should not even be allowed to wear an umbrella or a throne. The petitioner also produced some documents in support of his contention and claimed on the basis of these that the appointment of the new Shankaracharya is not correct, as it has completely violated the approval process of the appointment. The matter will now come up for final hearing on October 18.

Four Peeths were established by Adi Shankaracharya
According to the report of news agency PTI, according to Hindu scholars, no back can exist without Shankaracharya. In the Advaita Vedanta tradition of Hinduism, Shankaracharya is a commonly used term for the heads of monasteries. It is believed that Adi Shankaracharya founded the Badrikashram Jyotish Peeth in the north, the Sharada Peeth of Dwarka in the west, the Govardhan Peeth of Puri in the east and the Sringeri Sharada Peetham in the Chikkamagalur district of Karnataka… that is, a total of four mathas. .
