Four PFI workers arrested in Maharashtra, SP MP said – RSS should also be banned
In Maharashtra, ATS has arrested four PFI workers from Panvel. The ATS arrested the Panvel secretary of PFI and two other members of the banned organization after getting information about their meeting in Panvel. The ATS informed that the Anti-Terrorism Squad is currently probing the matter. On the other hand, SP MP from Sambhal Shafiqur Rahman Burke has demanded a ban on RSS after the arrest of PFI members.
The ATS said that the Maharashtra ATS had received intelligence inputs about a meeting of members of the Popular Front of India in Panvel. After which ATS took action and arrested four members of PFI from Panvel. It is worth noting that last month, the central government had banned the PFI for five years on the charge of terror links.
Ban on RSS too: On the other hand, SP MP Shafiqur Rahman Burke fiercely targeted BJP and RSS over the ban imposed on PFI. He said that PFI is not a terrorist organization but it is a constitutional party and I do not see any point in banning it. If PFI is banned then organizations like RSS should also be banned. Burke alleged that the BJP has banned PFI to suppress the voice of Muslims, but this is not going to give them a bow, but their voice will be raised more.
Sangh does irresponsible things: Shafiqur Rahman Burke said that RSS persecutes Muslims and talks about killing Muslims, yet the government never banned the Sangh. He said, “During the Parliament of Religions, there was talk of killing Muslims. But still the BJP remained silent on this. The Sangh does such irresponsible things which create an atmosphere of hatred in the country but still the government does not take any action against them. Burke said that only Allah knows whether the allegations leveled against PFI are false or true.
Arrests have already taken place: Earlier, Maharashtra Police had arrested 25 Popular Front of India activists after raiding in several districts of the state. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had told reporters that the action against the PFI is in accordance with the laws and evidence based on investigation into their activities.
Last month, NIA and ED raided several locations of PFI, in which 172 PFI activists have been arrested from 8 states of the country. In Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh, 30 people associated with PFI were detained in the NIA raid.
