Maharashtra / Mumbai : A 16-month-old innocent came out of the house in search of mother, took away the leopard sitting outside

A 16-month-old girl was attacked by a man-eating leopard in Mumbai’s Aarey Colony in the early hours of Monday on Diwali. In which she was badly injured. Soon after the incident, the girl was taken to Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri East for treatment. But the doctors declared him brought dead. An officer of Aarey police station said that the incident happened around 6.30 am, when the girl was going to the temple with her mother. The temple is only a short distance from his house. After this incident, the happiness of Diwali turned into mourning. The parents of the child are in bad condition.
According to the information, on the morning of Diwali, the girl’s mother went to a temple adjacent to the house to offer prayers. When the girl saw that her mother was not in the house, she also came out of the house. The leopard, which was already ambushed there, attacked the girl and picked her up and took her towards the forest. When the mother saw that the leopard was taking away her child, she started making noise and the villagers gathered. All the people ran towards the forest looking for the girl, where at some distance the girl was found lying in the bushes covered in blood. He was picked up and taken to the hospital. Where the doctors declared him dead.
The police have registered an accidental death report (ADR). While the matter is being investigated, the forest department has initiated an action plan to prevent conflict between humans and wildlife in the area. He told that the Forest Department has called a team of the Resink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW) for help.
Following the incident, a wildlife ambulance, wildlife crisis response team and volunteers from the Mumbai Forest Department have been deployed in the area. He said that the rescue workers, leopard experts, veterinary doctors and senior officers of the forest department would be continuously stationed in the forest area of Aarey Colony throughout the week. It is being told that this is the third incident in less than a month in the area.
Forest department officials said night patrolling would be done and ‘camera traps’ would be installed to identify and monitor leopard movements.
