Politics of picture on notes, Congress’s entry after Kejriwal; Ambedkar’s suggestion after Lakshmi-Ganesh

Politics has intensified after Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal demanded the picture of Lakshmi and Ganesh on the note. Now Congress has also entered in this. Congress leader Manish Tewari, while replying to Kejriwal, asked why there should not be a picture of Ambedkar on the notes of the new series. He suggested that the note should have a picture of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on one side and that of Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution, on the other.
Sharing the news of Arvind Kejriwal demanding a picture of ‘Lakshmi Ganesh’ on the note, Manish Tewari first questioned the Aam Aadmi Party convener and then suggested. Manish Tewari tweeted, “Why not have a picture of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on the notes of the new series? The great Mahatma Gandhi on one side and Dr. Ambedkar on the other. A unique combination of non-violence, constitutionalism and egalitarianism which will showcase the modern Indian genius.
Significantly, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday demanded from the central government and PM Modi that the picture of Lakshmi and Ganesh should be put on the new notes. He expressed confidence that by doing this the Indian economy will grow rapidly and the rupee’s fall against the dollar will stop. Giving the example of Indonesia, the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress retaliated on this suggestion made by Kejriwal. Both the parties said that Kejriwal is trying to play the Hindutva card because of the Gujarat elections.
