Shocking claim of scientists regarding earthquake, about 59 percent of India is in the grip of earthquake, danger is hovering!
Several earthquakes have occurred in the country in the last three days. Due to this the fear about earthquake has increased. According to this map, the Eurasian plate and the Indian plate are responsible for earthquakes in India. Like other plates around the world, the Eurasian Plate and the Indian Plate have been colliding with each other and in this collision, the Indian Plate is gradually coming under the Eurasian Plate. Dr. Ajay Paul, Senior Geophysicist, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology claimed. However, the new study has revealed the startling fact that India was somewhere else millions of years ago.
India was at the southern end of the earth
Through an animated video available on the Internet, experts have explained that about 71 million years ago, India was connected to the Antarctica and Australian plates at the southern end of the Earth. Gradually the Indian plate separated from the Antarctic and Australian plates and moved northwards. At that time the speed of sliding of Indian plates was 8 to 16 cm per year. It takes 8333 years to cover a distance of 1 km at this speed. In this way the Indian plate kept moving forward and the current location of the country became what it is today. Now the Indian plate is colliding with the Eurasian plate, so experts are worried as this may worsen the situation.
Threat to india
The ranges of the Himalayas and the Hindu Kush give rise to the possibility of major earthquakes in India. Some of the world’s major earthquakes have occurred around the Himalayas. Be it the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal in 2015 or the 2005 earthquake of 7.6 magnitude in Muzaffarabad, PoK. About 59 percent of the country is vulnerable to moderate or severe earthquakes, which is a matter of concern.
