British PM Rishi Sunak reached Ukraine: announced a defense package of 50 million pounds, said- we will stand with you
In the midst of the Russia-Ukraine war, Britain’s new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak reached Ukraine on Saturday i.e. 19 November. Here he met the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky. During this, he announced a defense package of 50 million pounds to help Ukraine. Also assured Zelensky of Britain’s continued support. Rishi reached Ukraine for the first time after becoming PM
This is Rishi Sunak’s first visit to Ukraine after taking over the reins of the British government. The defense package given to Ukraine includes 125 anti aircraft, pistols, dozens of radars and anti drones. Apart from this, technology to counter Russia’s deadly drones will also be provided by Britain. This aid package is in line with the announcement made by Britain’s Defense Minister Ben Wallace at the beginning of the month to provide more than 1,000 new anti-air missiles.
Apart from this, Rishi also announced humanitarian assistance in view of the buildings, schools and hospitals destroyed in the war. He also announced an aid package of £12 million for the World Food Programme. Britain will also give £4 million in aid to the International Organization for Migration. Along with this, funds will also be given for generators, shelters, drinking water and mobile health clinics.
After meeting Zelensky, he also visited the memorial built in Kyiv in memory of those killed during the war. There he paid homage to the people. After this, after reaching a fire station, he also met the employees of the fire brigade. Rishi Sunak also viewed captured Iranian drones that were used to target and bomb civilians in recent days.
