Meghalaya government extends internet suspension in 7 districts for another 48 hours

The Meghalaya government on Friday extended the internet suspension in 7 districts for 48 hours. According to the police, social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc have the potential to cause serious breakdown of law and order.

Issuing a public order on Friday in the wake of the untoward incident in the border areas of the Assam-Meghalaya border, in which 6 people were killed, the Meghalaya government has imposed curfew in 7 districts of the state (West Jaintia Hills, East Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, Ri -Bhoi, East West Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and South West Khali Hills) decided to continue internet shutdown. Internet suspension in these districts will start from 10.30 am on 26 November.
