People protesting against the Corona lockdown in Xinjiang, China

Videos of common people protesting against the strict rules of Kovid lockdown in China are surfacing on social media.

These demonstrations are taking place after 10 people died in a fire in an apartment block on Thursday. People allege that due to the strict rules imposed due to Kovid, people could not save their lives from the fire.

In Urumchi, China, people were seen fighting with the security forces. These people were raising slogans – ‘End the Covid lockdown.’

Despite the strict zero-covid policy implemented in China, the corona infection is once again spreading rapidly there.

Urumqi Prashasan has said that he will now gradually reduce the restrictions. Although the administration has denied the allegation of the people that due to the rules of the lockdown people could not escape from the fire.

Urumqi, the capital of the western Xinjiang region, has been under strict restrictions since the beginning of August due to Covid.

After Thursday’s accident, a resident of the building told the BBC that the compound in which the fire broke out, but people living in it were prevented from leaving their homes due to strict lockdown rules.

This claim has been rejected by the official media of China.

However, Urumqi officials issued an apology late on Friday, saying that “anyone who does not perform their duties properly will be punished.”
