Uttarakhand: Vehicle owners protest, wheels of more than 80 thousand vehicles stopped, people kept wandering on the road

In Uttarakhand today, problems arose due to stoppage of wheels of more than 80 thousand Vikram, autos, buses and trucks. Vehicle owners staged a protest across the state to protest against the necessity of automated fitness centers and the closure of ten-year-old Vikram autos in Dehradun and Haridwar districts. About 20 different unions of Garhwal and Kumaon participated in this Chakkajam. Its significant impact was seen in Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts.
At the same time, drivers of auto and bus unions gathered at Bannu School in Dehradun from where they marched to the assembly. During this, a large number of vehicle owners reached Dehradun. During this, he was stopped by the police by putting up barricades. After which they sat on a dharna on the same road. They went out to gherao the assembly with a bowl in their hands.
Let us inform that on Monday, the office bearers of Vikram, Auto, City Bus Unions failed to hold talks with Secretary Arvind Singh Hyanki at the residence of Transport Minister Chandan Ramdas for about two hours. After this, the Transport Secretary had sent a letter to the DM, SSP, RTO, ARTO of all the districts asking them to make alternative arrangements in case of a traffic jam.
He also said that the Central Government had issued a notification on April 5 to make fitness testing error-free. Under this, the Motor Vehicle Act has been amended. Under this, automated fitness centers are being arranged. Fitness centers have started with private participation in Doiwala of Dehradun and Rudrapur of Udham Singh Nagar. Till the centers are set up at other places, the vehicles are being checked for fitness as before.
On the other hand, in Dehradun, the Vikram Janakalyan Seva Samiti has backed down from Chakkajam. Chairman of the committee Rajendra Kumar said that Vikram Malik participated in the Vidhansabha march to protest against the RTA meeting, but keeping in view the demand of the public in the city, the operation of Vikrams continued on all routes. Explain that under the committee, 794 Vikrams are operated in the capital.
Major demands
1- The mandatory fitness check of vehicles at the Automated Fitness Center has been fixed on April 1, 2023 and June 2024. According to this compulsion should also be implemented in Uttarakhand. For the time being, the automated fitness requirement should be done away with.
2- Auto, Vikram and other diesel vehicles which have completed ten years of age should be updated under the order of NGT. The decision of RTA Dehradun to stop their operation should be withdrawn.
3- At least two fitness centers should be opened in every district of the state. Till then the old system should be restored.
