Madhya Pradesh : Be ready to kill Modi, Congress leader Raja Pateria arrested

Madhya Pradesh’s Panna Police has arrested Congress leader and former minister Raja Pateria from his house in Damoh on Tuesday morning for making objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. An FIR was registered against Patria on Monday in Powai, Panna. Raja Patria has been arrested in connection with his alleged ‘be ready to kill Modi’ statement. The police will present them in the court today.

In a video that surfaced on social media on Monday morning, Patria can be heard telling Congress workers, “Modi will end elections. Modi will divide people on the basis of religion, caste, language. Dalits, Adivasis Future life of minorities is in danger. Be prepared to kill Modi if you want to save the Constitution. Kill means work to defeat.” This purported video of Patria is from Powai town in Panna district of Madhya Pradesh.

However, after the controversy erupted over the statement, Pateria released a video clarifying that he meant to defeat Prime Minister Modi in the elections, but his remarks are being misrepresented.

BJP leaders attacked Congress

Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Union ministers, on Monday targeted the main opposition party over Congress leader Raja Pateria’s remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar strongly condemned the Congress for this statement of Pateria and said that this statement of Pateria is indicative of the violent mentality of the Congress. It is because of this type of mentality that the Congress has been defeated across the country. He said that the top leadership of the Congress should apologize for this condemnable and hateful statement and the Madhya Pradesh government should take cognizance of the incident and take action.

At the same time, Union Minister Ashwini Choubey had said that the Congress has an old history of making such objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Modi. He said former Congress president Sonia Gandhi had called Modi a ‘merchant of death’, while current president Mallikarjun Kharge had recently compared the prime minister to ‘Ravana’.

He said Pateria’s statement underlines the ‘politics of murder’ that flourished during the Congress rule. He said that the people of the country have taught Congress a lesson from time to time, but still it has not learned any lesson. Choubey demanded legal action against Patria.
