India keeping a close watch on China border from Ladakh to Arunachal, IAF Garuda Special Force took over the front
India has increased border surveillance amid ongoing tension with China. According to media reports, since May 2020, the Garud Special Force of the Indian Air Force has been deployed for specialist operations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The Garud commandos are keeping a close watch on the activities of the Chinese Army from high altitude areas along the China border.
Garud commandos are known for anti-terrorist operations in Kashmir and security of military bases. The Indian Air Force has equipped its special forces deployed along the LAC with the latest weapons like the American Sig Sauer assault rifle along with the upgraded AK-103. Its latest version AK-203 will be manufactured in India under Make in India scheme
Indian Air Force officials said the Garuda Special Forces are deployed in border areas along the China border from eastern Ladakh to Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, where they will conduct specialist operations if required. He said that the deployment of these troops along the LAC dates back to 2020, when the Indian Air Force had deployed itself aggressively to counter Chinese military aggression in the region.
