10 Pakistanis in custody with drugs, arms and ammunition worth Rs 300 crore seized from Gujarat border

The Indian Coast Guard has taken major action in the Arabian Sea on the basis of intelligence inputs from Gujarat ATS. Giving information about this action, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) said that based on the intelligence provided by ATS Gujarat, a Pakistani boat was intercepted in the Indian territorial waters in the Arabian Sea. Along with 10 crew members, a large amount of arms-ammunition and 40 kg of drugs have been recovered in this boat. Force officials said the operation was carried out during the intervening night of December 25-26 based on specific intelligence inputs. Based on its strategy, the Indian Coast Guard had deployed its ship ICGS Arinjay near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) with Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the team intercepted a Pakistani fishing boat, Al Soheli, for questioning and investigation. During the search of the boat, a large quantity of arms, ammunition and about 40 kg of narcotics was recovered from it. Officials said that the value of the recovered drug has been estimated at around Rs 300 crore. Along with the recovery, the boat along with the crew was also taken into custody. After which the crew and the boat are being brought to Okha for further investigation.

Defense officials said security agencies have recovered six pistols and 120 rounds of ammunition from the crew of the Pakistani boat. This boat had started from somewhere near Karachi. Defense officials say that after the seizure of such a huge consignment of drugs, the drug connection in India will be investigated. Apart from this, in view of the weapons recovered from the crew, it will also be ascertained whether they smuggle weapons as well?
