Jaidev Unadkat’s wild bowling, took hat-trick in the very first over of the match, created history
Returning to Team India after a long gap of 12 years, Saurashtra captain Jaydev Unadkat’s dreadful performance continues. He created history by taking a hat-trick in the very first over against Delhi in a Ranji Trophy Group-B match. He became the first bowler in Ranji Trophy history to take a hat-trick in the first over without conceding a run. He made Dhruv Shorey, Vaibhav Rawal and captain Yash Dhull their victims on the 3rd, 4th and 5th balls of the over.
In the match, Delhi won the toss and decided to bat first. Youngster Ayush Badoni, who impressed for Lucknow Super Giants in the last edition of the Indian Premier League, opened the innings for Delhi in their Group B fourth round league match of the Ranji Trophy. This is Badoni’s debut match, while captain Yash Dhull came out to bat at number three.
Jaydev Unadkat, the captain of the opposition team running in very dangerous form, took charge in the first over. He clean bowled Dhruv Shorey on the third ball of the over. Left arm pacer made Vaibhav Raval his victim on the next ball. He was caught by Harvik Desai. After this Jaydev made captain Yash Dhull LBW. Jaydev became the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the very first over of a Ranji Trophy match.
It is notable that Irfan Pathan did the feat of taking a hat-trick in the first over of the Test. He took a hat-trick in the very first over in the Karachi Test against Pakistan in 2006. He became the first bowler in the world to do so. It is noteworthy that after 2010, Jaydev Unadkat returned to Team India against Bangladesh. He also had a great performance.
