Construction work has been banned in Joshimath. The team of disaster management and experts formed by the Uttarakhand government has submitted its report to Chief Minister Dhami. The expert team has prepared the report after visiting the affected houses. In this, 6 studies have been recommended.

Affected houses should be demolished, people should be shifted

The expert committee has said that the recommendations made in the August 2022 report should be followed. Houses with heavy damage should be demolished and their debris removed. Expert committee said – these 6 studies should be done

▪️Geo-technical investigation should be done, if needed retrofitting of foundation should also be studied.
▪️Geophysical investigation should be done to understand the sub-layers of the area.
There should be seismic monitoring in the area.
▪️Hydrological investigation should be done, so that drainage, springs, local water table sources can be identified.
There should be real time monitoring of land subsidence.
▪️There should be an assessment of the damage caused to the houses, retrofitting should be done.

Central agencies will also investigate

Now on the current situation of Joshimath, experts from National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), Geological Survey of India, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, National Institute of Hydrology and Central Building Research Institute The team will conduct the survey and submit its report.

NDRF-SDRF deployed, people being shifted

The Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand told that about 350 meters wide land has been affected by landslide. One team of NDRF and four teams of SDRF have reached Joshimath. The affected families are being shifted to a place of safety. Along with this, arrangements are being made for their food and shelter. The people of Joshimath are being informed about the incident and their cooperation is being sought. Experts are being consulted to prepare short-medium-long term plans.
