In an advisory issued today, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has asked all TV channels in the country to strictly refrain from showing disturbing footage and photographs. According to the ministry, images of blood, dead bodies and physical assault against the program code are deeply disturbing and have a disproportionate impact on women and children. Not only this, the ministry has also said that no editing is being done by TV channels in such videos in which violence has been shown and this is affecting the viewers a lot. In such a situation, the Ministry has issued a complete advisory for this and has asked to follow it.

What advisory has been issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting

Issuing an advisory to all television channels in the country, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Monday said that the manner in which violence against women, children and the elderly and incidents of violence and deaths are being shown on these channels is disturbing. . According to the ministry, the manner in which dead bodies, blood everywhere, photos and videos of injured people are shown is a matter of concern. Not only this, the ministry has not told the videos and reporting of women, children and elderly people being beaten and dragged. According to the ministry, such incidents disturb the audience and are distasteful to them. It has been said in the advisory that such news can also have an adverse psychological effect on children. The ministry has observed that in most cases videos are being taken from social media and broadcast without editorial discretion and modifications to ensure compliance and continuity of the Program Code.

2. 28.08.2022 Showing disturbing footage of a man dragging a victim’s body and blood splattering all over, focusing on the victim’s face.
3. 06-07-2022 Regarding a painful incident in which a teacher can be seen mercilessly thrashing a 5-year-old child till he faints in a coaching classroom in Patna, Bihar. The clip was played without muting in which the child’s painful screams begging for mercy could be heard and was shown for over 09 minutes.
4. 04-06-2022 Showing painful images of dead body of a Punjabi singer without blurring.
5. 25-05-2022 A heart-wrenching incident of a man brutally beating two minor boys with a stick in Chirang district of Assam has been shown. In the video, the man can be seen mercilessly thrashing the boys with sticks. The clip was played without blurring or muting, in which the boys’ cries of pain could be heard clearly.
