Uttarakhand: Sliding Mountains, Sobbing Life, Landslide continues, INSA scientist warns… CM said – Every effort will be made to save Joshimath

The situation is continuously worsening due to landslides happening in Joshimath, Uttarakhand. It is being told that after Joshi Math, now the cracks in the ground have reached Karnaprayag. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the PMO is continuously monitoring the matter. Till now many families have been shifted to safer places. The PM also held a high-level meeting regarding this today. Meanwhile, Scientist DM Banerjee of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) has attributed the situation in Joshimath to the devastation happening there. He said that development work like construction of four lane highway is weakening the entire system.
Joshimath is situated on very weak ground.
He said that Joshimath is a part of the Central Himalayas. The rocks here are from Precambrian age and the area belongs to seismic zone-4. He said that the basic problem of Joshimath is that it is situated on very weak ground. Somewhere behind this disaster in Joshimath, the development that took place here is also responsible. Apart from this, people should not have built 3-4 storey houses on this land.
Should have remained a small village
DM Banerjee, scientist of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), told about the geographical location of Joshimath that the disaster-hit city of Uttarakhand is situated on a major slope. Which is formed by landslides that happened about 6000-7000 years ago. Even this whole mountain range where the mount houses are, they are not in proper condition. He pointed out that the chain slips from its original position. In the beginning when people were living there they were living in an unstable area. Joshimath should not have developed like a big city. Jaya it has happened today. Joshimath should have remained like a small village like before.
Gave this warning
Warning to avoid such situations, he said the present government is under immense pressure to make religious places like Badrinath and Kedarnath accessible. People have been going to Badrinath and Kedarnath, but they had to travel on foot. Now the government wants to make it easy to reach all these places so that they can go there by car and bus. This is a wrong move. This area of the Himalayas is fragile, soft and structurally weak. In such a situation, four-lane roads should not have been made till the Himalayas and different places because they make the whole system weak. Apart from this, the material extracted from the mountains for road construction is thrown into the river, due to which the river has become narrow. Everyone blames Glacier for this situation, but Glacier has a reason. The main reason for this is the construction of dams.
