Uttarakhand: Congress doing irresponsible politics by presenting wrong and misleading facts – Suresh Joshi

The BJP has accused the state and central Congress leaders of playing irresponsible politics by presenting wrong and misleading facts regarding the Joshimath disaster. The party’s state spokesperson Suresh Joshi retorted and said, the NTPC project for which they are accusing the BJP of being the cause of the disaster, even the MOU and foundation stone was laid in the Congress government. Similarly, in most of the power projects under construction in the mountains, their governments have contributed and agreed. He should clarify whether his policy was wrong then or his statements today are wrong. Suresh Joshi said, today the priority of the government is to provide help to the affected people, be it making arrangements for their living, food, health etc. or assessing the damages caused to their buildings and establishments. He said that teams of scientific and technical experts from 8 different departments of the Center and state government agencies and administration are studying and monitoring the landslide in Joshimath city. After this, whatever report comes out, immediate steps will be taken for a permanent solution. In the hour of this disaster, the Central and State Governments are fully standing with the people of Joshimath and other political parties should also cooperate positively.
He accused the Congress that its local and central leaders are making false statements on the basis of wrong information and misleading facts for the purpose of taking immediate political advantage. He said that in 2002, the then Congress government signed an MoU with NTPC for the under-construction NTPC power project in Joshimath, for which they are trying to put the government’s policies in the dock by calling it the main reason for the disaster. Not only this, its foundation stone was also laid in the year 2005 by the Chief Minister and Union Minister of your own government. Describing the statements of Congress leaders as extremely unfortunate and opportunistic, he said that how can the policy which was right in your rule suddenly turn bad now.
Joshi said that in the same way most of the water power projects in the state are under construction since the time of his government or the allied governments. He said, Congress, being a responsible political party, will have to clarify whether their policy regarding these projects was correct then or today’s opposition is correct. Even before the report of the expert committee, becoming a self-proclaimed expert, Congress is giving irresponsible and double-faced statements by becoming a judge on these projects for the purpose of immediate political gain and defaming the BJP government.
