Uttarakhand: Karan Mahara surrounded the government in the Joshimath landslide case, said – the government should give compensation as much as Badrinath

Uttarakhand Congress State President Karan Mahara has returned to Dehradun after visiting Joshimath. After returning from Joshimath, Karan Mahara has fiercely attacked the BJP government. Taking a dig at the Dhami government, he has described the matter as very insensitive. Karan Mahara said that the Dhami government has adopted an irresponsible stand regarding the Joshimath issue. The Congress has been seeking time from the Chief Minister’s Office since January 6 regarding the public problems of Joshimath, but the opposition is not being given time. This clearly shows how serious the government is for the people of Joshimath. Even more strange is the irony that none of the ministers in charge of the government rested there for the night.

Karan Mahara has demanded from the government that the people of Joshimath should be given the same compensation that is being given to the people of Badrinath Dham. At the same time, he said that the way the cabinet meeting was called within 24 hours in the Haldwani Banbhulpura case. But cabinet meeting will not be called yet in Joshimath matter is a matter of serious concern.

Karan Mahara said that Joshimath city has cultural and historical importance. This city holds special importance from religious and strategic point of view. He said that PM Modi has been in power in the country for the last 9 years and BJP government has been in power in Uttarakhand for 6 years, but the BJP government did not even try to get the geological report regarding Joshimath, as a result of which the danger is increasing day by day. And people’s shops and houses are in danger. But the government remains insensitive.

He said that keeping the environment in mind, Congress has stopped many schemes during its tenure. Heavy plantations were done there on a large scale during the Congress government. But under the guise of all-weather road, thousands of trees were cut, while environmentalists had asked to plant trees. Along with this, an appeal was also made to find the land and plant trees at some other place, but the trees were not planted. Raising the demand, he said that the government is doing demolition work in Joshimath, so arrangements should be made for their goods and cattle. He said that the ministers of the government are reaching there, but are coming back after giving instructions.

PM Modi and CM Dhami targeted

He said that Prime Minister Modi who talks about Mann Ki Baat, special religion and polarization and repeatedly visits Badrinath and Kedarnath. But in this whole incident no initiative is visible from their side and on the other hand the government which talks about stubbornness and Chief Minister Pushkar Dhani who talks about Sanatan is not ready to listen to the opposition. On the other hand, considering the seriousness of Joshimath, the government should have talked about a special package, but it is not being done so far. Congress has sought time from the Chief Minister, but is unable to get time from the Chief Minister’s Office. He has also attacked the government regarding the relief camps and said that the condition of the relief camps is terrible. In such a situation, the situation can worsen after snowfall. Even after the ruling party did politics on the opposition in this matter, he retorted and said that if talking about one time settlement and giving Rs 76 lakh per drain to the people of Joshimath is politics, then Congress will continue to do this type of politics.

Congress will establish control room

Considering the seriousness of the Joshimath issue, the Congress has decided to set up a control room so that the situation there can be closely monitored and if the residents of Joshimath need food or other facilities, the Congress will take the initiative.
