Last efforts to save Joshimath, the government is giving relief along with compensation for the house, but ‘double’ panic due to sky alert in the crumbling city

The last efforts to save the disaster-hit city of Joshimath in Uttarakhand have begun. Today the two hotels which were to be demolished tomorrow will be demolished. Yesterday, the demolition work was stopped due to protest by the people associated with the hotels. At the same time, today a meeting was held between the administration and the hotel owners, in which an agreement has been reached regarding the compensation. Thakur Singh Rana is the owner of Malari Inn and Sunderlal Mount View Hotel. Hotel owners said, “The administration is saying that compensation will be given according to the market rate, but no one is telling how much will be given, what is the rate.”
Please tell that even today some local people were sitting on dharna since night, they were protesting against the demolition of the hotel. The administration says that the hotel has been built in violation of the rules, so it is being demolished. While the owners of the hotel said that they will not allow the hotel to be demolished without compensation.
Number of damaged houses rises to 723
The number of damaged houses in Joshimath has increased to 723, in such a situation, the government has made a plan to evacuate people and demolish the damaged houses and hotels with bulldozers, but it had to be postponed on Tuesday after protests by the local people. Yesterday, the hotel could not be demolished due to strong protests, today action has to be taken to demolish it, but since morning the voices of protest have intensified.
‘Double’ panic from the sky alert in the crumbling city
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has also predicted rain and snowfall in Joshimath today. If it rains in these conditions, then the danger on Joshimath may increase further. According to the Meteorological Department, rain is expected in many areas including Joshimath and Garhwal from January 11 to 14. Snowfall may occur in higher areas. In such a situation, if it rains, then the cracks in Joshimath may become deeper.
Housing compensation with relief
Government agencies are doing everything possible to deal with the menace. Of the 723 houses that have been declared unsafe, 86 have been evacuated. 131 families have been shifted so far. For this, 344 relief camps with a capacity of 1425 have been set up in Joshimath and 491 relief camps with a capacity of 2205 have been set up in Pipalkoti, in which people are being kept temporarily. Assistance has been given to 53 affected families and people have been given money to buy essential items at the rate of Rs 5,000 per family. At the same time, compensation at the rate of Rs 1 lakh 30 thousand per house has also been given to the 10 most damaged houses. 70 food grains kits and 70 blankets have been distributed among the families leaving their homes and shifting.

Hearing in the Supreme Court on 16 January
On the other hand, the Supreme Court has fixed the date of hearing on January 16, refusing the immediate hearing regarding the Joshimath disaster, then the meeting of the National Crisis Management Committee was held on Tuesday regarding the biggest disaster that hit Joshimath. In a meeting chaired by Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, the NCMC reviewed the situation in Joshimath and stressed on the need to evacuate people from the affected area. While giving priority to the safe demolition of the sensitive structures, the state government was assured that all necessary assistance would be provided by all central agencies.
