Team India deliberately let Dasun Shanaka score a century? Rohit Sharma himself disclosed

India won by 67 runs in the first ODI against Sri Lanka in Guwahati. Due to the brilliant century of Virat Kohli, the Indian team made a big score of 373, in response Sri Lanka was able to score 306 runs. Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka also completed his century in this match. Although he was about to be run out on 98, but Team India gave him life.
In the last over of Sri Lanka’s innings, when Dasun Shanaka was playing on the score of 98, then Mohammed Shami had run out Mankad. Mohammed Shami appealed to the umpire, after which the field umpire turned to the third umpire. However, in the meantime Captain Rohit Sharma’s entry took place and he spoke to Mohammed Shami. After which Team India withdrew the appeal of the runout.

Captain Rohit Sharma disclosed this in the presentation ceremony after the match. Rohit Sharma said that Mohammed Shami had appealed, but Dasun was playing on 98. He batted brilliantly and we didn’t want to get him out like this. We wanted to get him out in the right way, but Mankad was not one of them. This is the reason why we have withdrawn our appeal.
Dasun Shanaka completed his century after Team India withdrew the appeal. Dasun played an inning of 103 runs in 88 balls, in his innings he hit 12 fours and 3 sixes. Despite this innings, Sri Lanka could not win the match and scored 306 runs in 50 overs. Sri Lanka lost the match by 67 runs and went down 0-1 in the series.

Significantly, the first match of the 3-match ODI series was played in Guwahati on 10 January. Sri Lanka won the toss and chose bowling and the Indian team batted first. Rohit Sharma scored 83, Shubman Gill scored 70, followed by Virat Kohli’s brilliant 113. On the strength of these innings, Team India scored 373, in response Sri Lanka’s team was able to score 306 runs.
