However, to travel on this luxury cruise, a heavy price has to be paid. The fare for one passenger will be around Rs 50-55 lakh. Despite such a high price, people intending to travel on this cruise will have to wait for more than a year. The reason for this is that this cruise is already booked till March 2024. This means that one will have to wait till April 2024 to travel Varanasi-Dibrugarh on MV Ganga Vilas Cruise.

New bookings are available from April next year only. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off this cruise through video conference and sent it on a long journey of 51 days. During this, the cruise will reach Dibrugarh in Assam via five states of India and waters of Bangladesh. 32 foreign tourists have left on the maiden voyage of Ganga Vilas Cruise. Saudamini Mathur, vice president of Antara Luxury River Cruises, the company operating this cruise, said that the fare for a passenger till Dibrugarh on the world’s longest river cruise would be Rs 50 lakh to Rs 55 lakh. He said that the seats are fully booked till March 2024 and only after that bookings are available. He said that most of the passengers who have already booked are from the US and European countries.

Mathur told that only local food and seasonal vegetables will be served to the passengers in this first cruise ship built in the country. Company’s founder and CEO Raj Singh said that only vegetarian food will be served on the cruise. Apart from this, no alcohol of any kind will be served. The cruise is commanded by Captain Mahadev Naik with 35 years of experience. A total of 39 members are deployed in the crew. Describing the journey through Ganga River as a very special experience for him, Negar Krieger, a passenger on the maiden voyage of Ganga Vilas Cruise, said, “It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that cannot be denied.” Thamien Christian also has a similar opinion. “Everything is wonderful on this cruise,” said Christian from Switzerland. In its long journey, the cruise will pass through 50 tourist destinations including world heritage sites, national parks, river ghats and major cities like Patna in Bihar, Sahibganj in Jharkhand, Kolkata in West Bengal, Dhaka in Bangladesh and Guwahati in Assam.
