Uttarakhand: Demolition work of hotels continues in Joshimath, CBRI team will assess the damage, helicopter ready for emergency

The process of demolition of Hotel Mount View and Malari Inn, which were identified after landslides in Joshimath, started on Thursday afternoon. This Friday morning here, the glasses of the windows of Hotel Malari Inn are being removed. The work of removing all the electric poles installed here is also being done. Have shifted our new transformer to the Electricity Department near the police station. Both the hotels will be razed to the ground in the next one week under the supervision of CBRI. There was no protest during this time. After two days of confusion, the process of dismantling the hotels started on Thursday. Barricading was put up by the police-administration on the Badrinath Highway from 3 pm. Along with the police, SDRF teams also got ready in the hotels. After some time, the crane reached the spot and took out the generator and water tanks from the roof of both the hotels. Electric poles in front of the hotels were also cut and removed with cranes.

At 4.15 pm, Thakur Singh Rana, the owner of Malari Inn, came out of the hotel with his family and went with the police officers. During this, Thakur Singh Rana, wife and daughter became emotional. After this the SDRF team reached the terrace of Malari Inn Hotel. The work of removing other goods kept here has been started. DM Himanshu Khurana said, both these hotels are being dismantled under the supervision of the scientists of the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI). CBRI has said to dismantle both the hotels in a week.

CBRI team will assess the loss

Along with the demolition, the CBRI team will also assess the damage. Will also prepare the design of pre-fabricated huts for temporary rehabilitation of houses and buildings which are to be demolished. The survey work of the damaged buildings has been started by the team.

Secretary CM back, Joshimath sent to minister in charge

Secretary to Chief Minister R Meenakshi Sundaram, who was posted in Joshimath, has been called back to Dehradun by the government. It is being told that some other officer will be posted there in his place. With this, Minister in-charge Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat has reached Joshimath, who will camp there for the next few days.

Helicopter ready for emergency

Secretary Disaster Management informed that Army, ITBP helicopters have been deployed in Gauchar by the Central Government to deal with any emergency in Joshimath. Apart from this, the state government’s own helicopter has also been kept on standby.
