Uttarakhand : After meeting the affected, Karan Mahara raised questions on the ongoing relief and rescue operations in Joshimath.

The Congress delegation, including state president Karan Mahara, state in-charge Devendra Yadav, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya, on Thursday visited landslide-affected Joshimath, Gopeshwar and Bahuguna Nagar of Karnprayag. During this, he met the families of the victims and also took stock of the relief and rehabilitation works. For which today he has fiercely targeted the government. Karan Mahara gave his reaction regarding the present condition of the affected areas and the relief provided by the government to the disaster affected people. He said that Congress leaders saw during their visit to Joshimath that there was not a single shop or establishment outside which did not have posters of NTPC Go Back. The situation is worse there and people have a lot of complaints with the administration.

Mahara said that the government and the administration are working with the intention of reducing the number of displaced people there. He also alleged discrimination in the distribution of relief materials being given to the affected. At the same time, he also expressed surprise at the statement of Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt. He said Ajay Bhatt’s statement that until the report of experts and geologists comes, it cannot be told whether this disaster is man-made or a natural disaster.

He also said on the statement of Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat, we have talked to ISRO and the website has been closed. He called it ridiculous. Karan Mahara raised the issue of shifting of 38 families to Bahuguna Nagar of Karnprayag. He said that these families were shifted 3 months ago, but the people of Bahuguna Nagar have also not received financial assistance in these 3 months.

He said that 35 houses there can collapse anytime due to cracks. Due to which the people walking on the road can be at risk. There has also been a huge landslide in Gopeshwar. In which a locality is in danger. Local residents say that all this happened because of the railway tunnel. Similar reports are also coming from Nainital, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Mussoorie.

He said that the Joshimath Sangharsh Samiti has expressed its displeasure. The Sangharsh Samiti says that the government is unilaterally talking about settling the affected people of Joshimath in Pipalkoti. Is working to remove the victims. So that the work of settling people can be done as desired. The people of Pipalkoti are not satisfied with this and are telling the lack of water.

Karan Mahara has raised the demand for one time settlement to the disaster affected. Also said that the arrangements that should have been made there by the government have not been made. Due to which people are facing huge problems. Mahara said that Rahul Gandhi had called three geologists in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. He gave three suggestions to the high command. Under the same, the state in-charge of Congress Devendra Yadav was sent by the high command on a tour of Uttarakhand. The Uttarakhand Congress is going to send the report of all those areas to the committee in the areas where landslides are taking place.
