Uttarakhand / Dehradun: Bulldozer thundered on encroachment, heavy police force deployed, people vacated the colony

Bulldozer thundered on the encroached settlements on the banks of Shaktinhar. Jal Vidyut Nigam has made all arrangements to vacate its land. There will be no water supply in Shaktinhar from 07:00 am to 08:00 pm. The deputy general manager of the corporation has told that the water police has been deployed to prevent possible protests by the people.
Jal Vidyut Nigam had given notice to the settlements on the banks of Shaktinhar at 07:00 am on Saturday. It has been said in the notice that within 24 hours i.e. by 07:00 am on Sunday, vacate the encroachment. After that the corporation will start the process of removing the encroachment. In this action, all such constructions will be demolished, which have been prepared by encroachment on the corporation’s land. Please tell that this action will be taken from Dakpathar to Paonta Road bridge located in Dhakrani.
Notice was given to 600 families
It is to be known that there are settlements on both the banks of Shaktinahar. Among them there are 600 such families, who have encroached on the land of Jal Vidyut Nigam and constructed their houses and shops. Jal Vidyut Nigam has been giving notices to these families to remove the encroachment. Recently, on the instructions of the District Magistrate, Jal Vidyut Nigam once again gave notice. In the same sequence, this time action on encroachment is almost certain. On the other hand, the villagers continued their sit-in on Saturday in protest against the removal of encroachment in Dhakrani.
Action being taken for ignoring the earlier notice
In the notice given by Jal Vidyut Nigam on Saturday, it has been said that notices were given several times to the people living on the banks of the canal. Everyone repeatedly ignored all the earlier notices every time. That is why action is being taken to remove the encroachment. It has been warned that the settlements should be vacated by Sunday morning. Otherwise the Corporation will take action and get the settlements vacated. Jal Vidyut Nigam issued another order asking Shaktinahar, which supplies water to power projects, to be closed for the whole day on Sunday.
In a letter issued in the name of the Corporation’s Deputy General Manager Hemant Kumar Srivastava, it has been said that encroachments of people living on the corporation’s land on the banks of Shaktinhar from Dakpathar to Dhalipur have been removed on Sunday. The water supply was kept closed during the operation. In view of the possible protest of the people, adequate number of water police was also deployed.
