Officials said that Kadamba wood is considered auspicious in Indian culture and the design on the special Kadamwood box has been hand-carved by expert artisans. According to him, Indian sandalwood is one of the most sacred herbs of Ayurveda. Sandalwood powder and essential oil are renowned for their many medicinal and spiritual uses. Karnataka has some of the best sandalwood forests in the world. The art of sandalwood carving has been an integral part of the cultural heritage of Karnataka for centuries.
