Feeling like January due to snowfall in Chardham, heavy rain alert in these areas today

Due to the activation of Western Disturbance, most areas of Uttarakhand are getting rain and snowfall in high altitude areas. On Tuesday, March 21, rains continued in most areas of the state. It has been raining since early morning, due to which the temperature has dropped and cold is being felt.

The rains continued in Dehradun, Haridwar, Kotdwar on Tuesday. It rained here from late Monday night till Tuesday morning. Earlier on Monday, there was snowfall in the high peaks of Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines.

Even today, yellow alert of rain, snowfall across the state
An alert of heavy rain has been issued by the Meteorological Department on Tuesday. Along with thunder, a warning has also been issued regarding hailstorm and thunderstorm. There is a possibility of lightning and hailstorm with thunder in Dehradun, Almora, Nainital and Champawat. There may be light rain at some places.

Director of Meteorological Center Bikram Singh said that due to the activation of Western Disturbance, there is a possibility of rain, hailstorm and snowfall in Uttarakhand till March 24. Only on March 22 and 23, it is expected to decrease slightly.

Then on March 24, there is a possibility of rain in the plains and snowfall in areas with a height of more than three thousand meters. There is a possibility of rain and snowfall in all the districts of Kumaon division and most of the districts of Garhwal division on Tuesday. Yellow alert has been issued for this.

Rain in low lying areas and snow on high peaks
In the entire Kumaon division, there is rain in the lower areas and snowfall on the higher peaks. Due to rain in Mussoorie for about three hours during the day and drizzle in Dehradun, the temperature of the capital decreased by six degrees Celsius.

Dense clouds remained in Dehradun and surrounding areas since morning. During this, light rain occurred in Gadi Cantt, Premanrar, Rajpur Road, Jakhan Old Mussoorie Road, FRI area at around 1 pm. While there was drizzle in other areas. On Monday, the maximum temperature of Doon was six degrees below normal at 23.9 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature was 14.6 degree Celsius.

Similarly, the maximum temperature of Mussoorie was six degrees below normal at 19.3 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature was 08.5 degree Celsius. Mussoorie received 38.1 mm of rain from 8 am to 5.30 pm on Monday, while Dehadun received 12.2 mm of rain.

Cold returned due to rain and snowfall in the mountains
There has been snowfall on the nearby peaks of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham on Monday morning. It is raining intermittently in Harshil valley and low-lying areas. Due to which once again the cold has increased a lot.

Uttarkashi district headquarters recorded a maximum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a minimum of eight degrees Celsius. There has been snowfall in the high peaks of Badrinath Dham. Apart from this, there has been light rain at some places in the district as well.

On the other hand, there has been snowfall in Kedarnath Dham for the fourth consecutive day. Apart from this, there has been light rain at low lying places in Rudraprayag district. It started raining in New Tehri since morning with dense cloud cover, due to which the residents of New Tehri are facing severe cold.

Monday’s maximum temperature in New Tehri was recorded at 11.2 degree Celsius while New Tehri’s temperature was around 20 degree Celsius. The rains continued in Kotdwar and surrounding areas on Monday as well. In Dhumakot and nearby villages, fields were seen turning white due to hailstorm. On the other hand, Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts of Kumaon division received rain and snowfall in high altitude areas.
