What is the procedure for moving a motion of no confidence against the Speaker of Lok Sabha? Congress is preparing to bring no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla!

After the end of Rahul Gandhi’s membership, the Congress is now preparing to bring a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. It is being told that in the meeting of Congress there was a discussion on bringing no-confidence motion against Om Birla. It is believed that no-confidence motion can be brought on Monday i.e. 3 April. For this, talks are also being held with the leaders of other opposition parties. However, some parties are opposing it, as they believe that it can hurt the opposition unity. In fact, on March 23, Rahul Gandhi was sentenced to two years in the defamation case. After this, his membership of the Lok Sabha also went away.

How will no confidence motion come?

Senior journalist Arvind Kumar Singh says that the support of at least 100 members is necessary to bring a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. He told that 14 days prior notice has to be given for bringing no-confidence motion.

What after arrival?

According to Singh, after the motion of no confidence comes, it is discussed in the House. The person against whom this proposal is brought was not on the seat at that time. That is, when it will be discussed, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will not sit on the speaker’s chair.

What if the motion passed?

He told that if the no-confidence motion is passed, then Om Birla will have to resign from the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. However, its chances are slim to none. Because the opposition does not have the majority to get this proposal passed.

Then why is it being brought?

Arvind Singh says that no-confidence motion is actually a symbol of displeasure. The opposition also knows that this proposal cannot be passed, but through this it wants to show its strength.

No-confidence motion has come against any speaker?

He told that so far in the history, two no-confidence motions have been brought against the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. For the first time, no-confidence motion came against Ganesh Vasudev Mavalankar, which was defeated. Mavalankar was the first speaker of the Lok Sabha. After him, no-confidence motion also came against Balram Jakhar. This too had fallen. Both the times there was Congress government and it had a huge majority. Because of this these proposals were dropped.
