The High Court has stayed the decision of RTO Dehradun to convert more than 10 years old autos and Vikram to CNG or B-6. This order will also be applicable in Rishikesh, Haridwar and Roorkee. Vikram Jan Kalyan Samiti Dehradun challenged the resolution number 7-A of RTO Dehradun dated November 1, 2022 in the High Court. It was said in the petition that the RTO had decided that ten year old Auto and Vikram should be converted to CNG or B-6 standard by March 31, 2023. While for autos and Vikram with a duration of less than 10 years, this deadline is set for December 31, 2023.

High Court banned

According to Section 59 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, the age of any vehicle is decided by the Central Government through notification. A single bench of senior judge Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari has fixed April 28 as the date of next hearing while staying the proposal of RTO Dehradun. Similar petitions were also from Rishikesh, Haridwar and Roorkee. The same order will apply here as well. On November 1 last year, the RTO had decided to phase out diesel-run Vikram and autos from Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar and Vikasnagar to control pollution.

RTO had decided to completely shut down

In this, it was decided to stop the operation of more than ten years old diesel autos and Vikram after March 31, 2023, while the operation of diesel autos and Vikram less than ten years old was decided to stop completely after December 31, 2023. .

Instead of these, it was decided to run BS-6 petrol, CNG or electric four wheeler Tata Magic vehicle in Doon. For this, the Transport Department has also made 18 routes in Doon city and started allotting permits under the stage carriage.
