Karnataka: Cow vigilantes allegedly beat Muslim youth to death for Rs 2 lakh

A Muslim youth was allegedly beaten to death by self-proclaimed cow vigilantes in Karnataka on Saturday. According to information, accused Puneet Kerehalli allegedly stopped cattle trader Idrees Pasha in the afternoon when he was transporting cattle.

On being stopped, Idrees allegedly presented cattle market papers, but Puneet demanded Rs 2 lakh, and refused to pay, assaulting his associates.

Idris’s body was found on the side of a road in Sathanur village of Ramanagara district in Karnataka. While Puneet Kerehalli, the leader of the so-called ‘cow protection force’, is absconding.

The police have registered a case on charges of murder, wrongful restraint and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace in the entire matter. This area comes under the constituency of Congress state president DK Shivakumar.
