Players who bring medals in state level sports and participate in national and championship will get direct admission in colleges

Players who bring medals in state level sports and participate in national and championship will get direct admission in colleges. The government is preparing to give five percent sports quota for admission to the players. According to Sports Director Jitendra Sonkar, a proposal has been prepared for this after studying such arrangements in six states. The proposal will be sent to the government on April 3. Medal winning sportspersons of the state will not only be able to get direct jobs in the state services on the posts of Group B (Gazetted Officer) and C (Class III employee), but will also be able to complete their studies along with sports. According to the officials of the sports department, the sports quota will be for admission in college, university and professional courses.
Study of policy made in different states
Sports Director Jitendra Sonkar says that the proposal has been prepared after studying the reports received by the department from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala and Delhi. A study of the policy made for this in various states has revealed that some states are giving preference to sportspersons in admission, while some have fixed two to three per cent sports quota.
According to the sports director, in Uttarakhand, sportspersons are given preference in admission, but till now there was no sports quota for this. With the sports quota, players who want to complete their studies with sports will be able to complete their studies easily by getting admission in various courses.
Suggestions were sought from the Sports Department in this regard 15-20 days ago by the Higher Education Department in the government. The proposal is being sent by the Sports Department. The government has to take a decision on this. The proposal may come in the cabinet.
