Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will reach Surat on Monday and file an application in the upper court. He will reach Surat around 12:30 pm and from there directly reach Surat District and Sessions Court located at Eighth Lines and file the application. On March 23, Surat’s CJM court convicted Rahul Gandhi in a defamation case and sentenced him to two years’ imprisonment. After this, the membership of Lok Sabha of Rahul Gandhi was terminated the next day. After this, Rahul Gandhi had also received a notice to vacate his residence at 12 Tughlaq Lane.
Will be welcomed outside the court
According to the information, all preparations have been completed to challenge the decision of the CJM court. Rahul Gandhi himself will be present at the time of filing the application in the sessions court. Surat City Congress Committee and State Congress Committee have also started preparations for this. Surat city leaders and Congress workers will greet and encourage Rahul Gandhi outside the court. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had reached Surat on March 23 and was present in the court at the time of pronouncement of the verdict. Rahul Gandhi will file his application on April 3, 11 days after the court’s decision. Rahul Gandhi’s team of lawyers and senior party leaders will also be present on the occasion.
The judgment was of 168 pages
According to Congress leaders, the judgment of the CJM court was in Gujarati language. Due to this, it took time to read and translate this judgment of 168 pages. Rahul Gandhi’s application has been prepared. It will be filed in the sessions court. The CJM court did not grant any relief to Rahul Gandhi in its judgment and upheld the maximum fixed term of two years. Because of this, Rahul Gandhi lost his membership of the Lok Sabha. Rahul Gandhi was an MP from Wayanad in Kerala. If he gets relief in the sentence of the upper court, then his MP can be restored. When the CJM court of Surat gave its verdict in the defamation case, Rahul Gandhi was given 30 days to challenge the verdict.
