Tornado killed 26 people in America, 60 storms wreaked havoc in 8 states, imposed emergency to deal with the situation
26 people lost their lives in dozens of dangerous tornadoes in the US on Friday and Saturday. The situation became so bad that emergency had to be imposed in many states of America’s South and Midwest.
According to the BBC report, 60 storms occurred in seven states of America, due to which there was dangerous devastation in 8 states. This affected the lives of 8 crore people. A dangerous storm blew off the roof of a school in Arkansas.
Hid in the bathroom to escape the storm
Maximum 7 deaths occurred in the US state of Tennessee. At the same time, 5 people lost their lives in Arkansas and 4 in Illinois. A woman named Ashley McMillan told the AP that she had to hide in a small bathroom with her husband, children and dog when the tornado passed through her area.
Wherever the tornado passed, it left behind a trail of devastation. Big trees were uprooted and fell on the ground and doors and windows of houses were broken. Ashley said she still felt her house shake. 2,600 buildings were damaged in Arkansas. Till Saturday afternoon, there was no electricity in the houses of 34 thousand people.
Four killed in roof collapse during concert
During a concert in Belvidere, Illinois, the roof of a theater collapsed, killing 4 people. 260 people were present there during the accident. A woman named Jessica, who attended the concert, told Reuters that the lights went out and there was a loud noise. Everything seemed to be falling apart.
A middle-aged man in his 50s was trapped under the debris after the roof collapsed, dying by the time emergency services arrived. Four people, including a middle-aged man, lost their lives in the accident. At the same time, Sullivan Mayor Clint Lamb told reporters that there was so much devastation in the area that nothing was being recognized.
Most of the world’s tornadoes come in America
According to America’s National Weather Service, although tornadoes can occur at any time in the world, they occur in the largest number in America. In America itself, maximum number of tornadoes occur in the plains like Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas.
NOAA i.e. National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration says that 50 lives are lost every year in America due to Tornadoes. There were very devastating tornadoes in the spring of 2011 in which more than 580 people lost their lives in April and June. It is estimated that they caused a loss of 21 billion dollars.
