The last wish of a Canadian resident woman was fulfilled in Rishikesh, the last rites were performed according to Hindu customs, the female friend lit the fire

A 65-year-old woman who had come from Canada to visit Rishikesh died in AIIMS five days back due to illness. On the consent of her relatives from Canada, the last rites of the foreign woman were performed according to Hindu customs at Chandreshwar Nagar Muktidham. Female friend Naya, a resident of Denmark, lit his funeral pyre. He told that Catherine had expressed her wish that if she dies here, she should be cremated according to Hindu customs. Senior Superintendent of Police Pauri Shweta Choubey said that 65-year-old Catherine was a resident of Canada. She came here on March 3 to visit on a tourist visa. Catherine was staying at Sri Yoga Ashram Laxmanjhula. Here he befriended Naya, a resident of Denmark.
When Catherine’s health deteriorated, her friend Naya admitted her to AIIMS Rishikesh on March 28, where she died on March 29 during treatment. The death memo of the said woman was received at Laxmanjhula police station in the district. After which the Laxmanjhula police station took action on the panchayatnama of the said deceased woman.
Laxmanjhula police station in-charge Inspector Vinod Gusain said that the Laxmanjhula police informed about the death of the Canadian resident woman to her relatives through the embassy. The relatives informed the embassy through e-mail that Catherine’s female friend Naya was being given all other rights to perform the last rites of the deceased Catherine.
On Monday, the post-mortem of the deceased Catherine was done as per the rules. After which his dead body was handed over to female friend Naya. Naya told that it was Catherine’s wish that if she dies here, her last rites should be performed according to Hindu rituals.
On Monday itself, the last rites of deceased Catherine were performed at Mukti Ghat of Chandreshwar Ghat according to Hindu customs. On this occasion, Naya, the friend of the deceased woman, the owner of the Yoga Ashram, the staff and the personnel of the Laxmanjhula police were present. Naya, the female friend of the deceased, thanked the police for their humane sensibilities and assistance.
