Uttarakhand / Mussoorie: The injured told the truth of the accident, said- ‘The driver was eating gutkha, the bus was driving fast after drinking alcohol’

Police have started recording the statements of the injured in the bus accident near Shergarh on Mussoorie-Dehradun road. On Monday, the Mussoorie Kotwali police recorded the statements of the eight injured. On the other hand, the police have traced the driver who jumped from the moving bus.

He is admitted in a private hospital in Patel Nagar. It is being told that after the accident, the police took him towards Bhatta village while he reached Patel Nagar by taking a lift and got admitted in a private hospital. The driver sustained injuries on his knee and ribs. The police have increased the monitoring of the accused driver and the accident bus.

Mother-daughter killed, 38 passengers injured
On Sunday afternoon, the contracted bus of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation fell into a 250-feet deep gorge on the Mussoorie-Dehradun highway due to the driver consuming gutkha. The mother-daughter aboard died, while 38 passengers including the driver-operator were injured.

The bus driver took a lift from a driver and got admitted to a private hospital in Patel Nagar. The police reached the hospital after locating him and the duty of two constables has been imposed there. At present, he is undergoing treatment under the supervision of the police.

CO Mussoorie Anil Joshi said that the statements of eight injured have been recorded on Monday. In the statements, some of the injured said that the driver was consuming gutkha at the time of the accident, while some said that the driver was drunk and was driving at high speed. Some passengers even interrupted him but he did not listen to anyone. The CO said that the final report would be prepared after recording the statements of all the injured. After this, increasing the sections against the accused driver, he will be arrested.

23 patients discharged, two referred
23 patients admitted in Doon Medical College Hospital of Mussoorie bus accident have been discharged. While two patients have been referred. He has been referred due to neurological problem. Now seven patients are admitted in the hospital. According to emergency in-charge Dr. Mukesh Upadhyay, 32 patients were admitted to the hospital on Sunday. Of these, 10 patients were discharged on Monday morning and 13 in the evening.

The condition of all of them was normal and they themselves sought discharge. Apart from this, two patients have been referred. These include 21-year-old Preeti, resident of Jind, Haryana and 26-year-old Harshit Sharma, resident of Jaipur. Preeti had a fracture in her cervical spine. Apart from this, the ribs were broken and the lungs were filled with water. Whereas Harshit had a head injury. Also there was the problem of retrograde amnesia (memory loss). He informed that the condition of other patients admitted in the hospital is also improving. Some other patients can also be discharged soon.

Patients had to be referred due to neurosurgeon being discharged
Two injured in the Mussoorie bus accident had to be referred. He had neurological problems, but Dr. DP Tiwari, the only neurosurgeon of the hospital, is on leave. In such a situation, there was no other option but to refer patients.

The last rites of the deceased mother-daughter took place in Haridwar
The last rites of Sudha Lakheda, wife Sudhakar Lakheda and daughter Mehak Lakheda, resident of twelve scissors of Mussoorie, who died in the bus accident on the Mussoorie Dehradun highway on Sunday, were performed in a sad atmosphere on Monday. On this occasion, people bid him a final farewell with moist eyes.

The dead bodies of deceased Sudha Lakheda and Mehak Lakheda were post-mortemed in Dehradun on Sunday night itself, but their dead bodies were not brought to Mussoorie after post-mortem and their last journey went to Haridwar from Dehradun march where their last rites were performed. Various political and social organizations of the city, including State’s Kabina Minister and Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi, Municipal President Anuj Gupta, former Municipal President OP Uniyal have expressed deep sorrow over this incident.
